The diagram shows a party's position on 4 axes based on CHES data (Chapel Hill Expert Survey), provided by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Axes
The diagram represents party views on four axes: economic, worldview, system of governance, and attitude toward the European Union.
Axis positions
Depending on a party's views, each axis can place it at one of seven positions. A party can, for example, be economically centrist, slightly conservative, moderately liberal, and strongly Eurosceptic.
Coalitions
When a grouping consists of several parties, the diagram can show a range of views - then you will see, for example, a range from "strongly progressive to moderately conservative" on the worldview axis.
